Overview…
This summer, we’re creating a nature-based retreat centre and permaculture wonderland on a six-acre field on the edge of the Cotswolds, and we’re looking for people to come and help make it happen.
The project will involve the creation of natural buildings, edible gardens, and off-grid infrastructure, all designed to support low-impact land-based living.
We are welcoming volunteers and hiring two paid team members to assist with the construction and landscape development.
The project is structured to provide hands-on learning and collaboration opportunities, with volunteers working alongside experienced builders and ecological designers in a supportive community environment.

What we’re creating…
We’ll be transforming a lovely six-acre field into a bio-abundant permaculture wonderland and nature-based retreat centre. The project will include the creation of:
Multiple circular natural structures, including load-bearing straw-bale and timber-framed roundhouses
A straw-bale sauna
A natural swimming pond
Permaculture gardens and an edible landscape
A cob area with a cob oven, fireplace, and seating
Compost toilets, shower houses, and natural greywater filtration reedbeds

Ways to get involved…
There are volunteer and 2 paid roles available.
Volunteers
We’re going to be welcoming 50 volunteers over the summer .
If you dream of building your own off-grid homestead or being part of the creation of land-based communities, this could be a big step in that direction for you.
There’ll be opportunity to learn all the skills needed to build a natural home, including working with straw-bale, roundwood timber, cob and lime, as well as skills around water management, waste management, soil regeneration and edible landscape creation.
It’s also a chance to live on the land in community, in a co-creative and supportive environment.

Paid Roles
We have two key roles available in our core team:
We’re seeking someone trained in permaculture / ecological landscaping and ideally with some experience in natural building.
We’re looking for an skilled natural builder who also has good general construction experience to help us create a range of natural buildings.
The Bigger Vision…
This project is a significant step on our way towards village-scale land-based community creation here in the UK.
It’s an opportunity for us to build a small version of the kind of land-based communities we aim to create across the country, helping us to build capacity towards that larger goal.
It will also give us a space to start to grow the tribe of visionary land-lovers who will come together to create and inhabit these future communities.
So yeah, we’re pretty excited about it!
